This time I show the long nose Jaguar D Type that won Le Mans in 1955 with Mike Howthorn and Ivor Bueb after a great fighting with the Mercedes of Fangio/Moss that was retired by their team's tragic circunstances in that race.
The Fisher Model and Pattern Works' kit is in 1:24 scale and very simple to build. The body has a very good shape and all the parts fit very well. It brings also the decals for the Briggs Cunningham's Team car #9 driven by Spear/Walters. The only thing I changed in the original kit were the tyres and wheels. I used those from the Revell's XK SS.
The painting was done with a dark green lacquer I prepaired by myself All the photos I had of this car they looked very dark, almost black, but not the britsh racing green that Tamiya indicate to paint the Lotus 25, for exemple. I used black, yellow and blue to get the green too dark you see on the model. Better should be to get the car and indentify the right green, but sure, in 1955.
